In 2017 I traveled to Mexico to explore, study Spanish, and live with a close family friend, Tia Nella. She taught me to make Salsa Chile de Árbol in a molcajete. Gracias, Tia. That was the beginning of my salsa journey. I fell in love with the food, the country, the people, and their language.
Enthralled with the natural goods in the mercados, I wanted to fill my home with the rich, beautiful textures and materials that were being made by hand. Inspired by the skill and techniques used, many passed down from generation to generation, my life was forever changed. This is how Tienda Salsita was born.
Our salsa is stone ground in small batches. We hand toast dried chiles and use locally grown produce from small farms using sustainable agricultural practices. Salsa with these chiles can be found all across Mexico. While the ingredients stay consistent, each one is as unique as the person that makes it. Our recipes are based on traditional recipes. They are the flavors of Mexico.
